April 2, 2002 Hello friends, On May 13th I am going to get on my bike and embark on a very long bike ride. I will be joining about 1000 other cyclists and riding my bike almost 600 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles California. I am doing it to raise money and awareness for the fight against AIDS. My decision to participate in the AIDS/LifeCycle stems in part from the profound experience I had in 1999 doing the California AIDS Ride. Along the way I realized how important this event was not just for the people who benefited from the funds it raised, but from support it provided to those directly affected by the disease. |

This year the Inaugural AIDS/LifeCycle is being organized and run by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. The SFAF directly benefits from the money raised. I have decided to support the AIDS/LifeCycle because I believe the SFAF will directly benefit from the LifeCycle and it provides valuable services to the community. SFAF will use the proceeds from the ride to support a variety of programs including:
Though training for the ride is up to me, I would like to ask you to join me by pledging your support. Each rider must raise a minimum of $2500 to participate in the ride. My personal goal is to raise $5000, and this is where I need your help in the form of a pledge. Any amount helps, but please keep in mind the effort necessary for me to physically prepare for the ride, and how far I will be riding. By the end of April I will be riding approximately 200 miles, or almost 20 hours a week. This means I will be dedicating the bulk of my weekends to riding, in addition to early morning, pre-work and evening, post-work training.
This year the LifeCycle has conveniently set up a secure server at

If you prefer not to submit your pledge online, a printable version of the pledge form can be found at.
